Institutions such as property rights, rule of law and political stability vary greatly depending on the socio-economic development and political context of a country's attitude towards development. The current discussion in the existing literature on the role of institutions does not investigate which institutional quality variables affect manufacturing sector exports, innovation, and economic growth in developing countries. This dissertation contributes to the existing literature by focusing more complex institutional contexts for bringing sustainability into the developing world, such as reform initiatives to support economic growth.
