Phase-based approaches for treating individuals with complex trauma are growing in psychological practice, however, is founded on little research evidence. This thesis evaluated a phase-based approach for women with complex trauma histories, designed to overcome treatment barriers such as cost. The treatment involved 10-weeks of group psychoeducation and 10-weeks of individual therapy based on an Internal Family Systems therapy framework. This thesis demonstrates that this approach may improve accessibility for individuals and the intervention demonstrated preliminary effectiveness in reducing symptoms associated with traumatic experiences.
