Dr. Xie's research focused on the use of metal nanowire networks as transparent electrodes on silicon-based solar cells. The research identified that due to the superior optical and electrical performances as well as the facile and scalable fabrication methods of the metal nanowire networks, they can be readily applied as promising substitutes for the conventional transparent electrodes on silicon-based solar cells. The outcomes can contribute to the development of photovoltaic industry by enhancing the device efficiency and decreasing the fabrication costs.
