Investigating the antecedents of employee green behaviour in the manufacturing sector in Sri Lanka

thesis
posted on 2024-07-26, 03:49 authored by Subhashini Weerakkody
The thesis has investigated the antecedents of employee green behaviour (EGB) in the manufacturing sector in Sri Lanka, along with green competencies (GC) and perceived green gap (PGG) of the front-line employees. The thesis discusses environmental management practices (EMP) in hard and soft approaches. Underpinning theories of the conceptual model are the Ability-Mortivation-opportunity (AMO) theory, theory-in-use, and espoused theory. This study reveals that EMP impacts EGB positively. Green-oriented business organisations enhance green behaviour of employees through GC. More specifically, PGG moderates the direct relationship between EMP and EGB. Thus, organisations can protect the environment by doing what they say to their employees.
