Investigating the influence of Epstein-Barr virus on the p53 pathway in nasopharyngeal carcinoma

The research is to study on the effect of Epstein-Barr virus affecting p53, tumour suppressor gene and its downstream targets in nasopharyngeal carcinoma. The outcome of this study showed that the presence of virus does not necessary cause cancer and p53 is not necessarily mutated in virus-infected premalignant cells. This study would benefit further research on different target genes that causes nasopharyngeal carcinoma and explore the possibility of designing drugs for treating nasopharyngeal carcinoma.
