This research project first explored various methods for in vitro neural differentiation from mouse and human pluripotent stem cells. It also established a system for studying GABAA receptors in cells. Then genome editing techniques were employed to modify the endogenous GABRA1 gene in the inducible pluoripotent cell lines for more realistic measure. The outcomes of this project provided powerful tools for disease modeling, drug screening and cell therapy, which can develop potential treatments for neurological disorders in future.
