Electric vehicles (EVs) have great potential to ease the environmental issues. However, current EVs have a limited range, reducing their appeal and hence their impacts. This research is to develop a new composite for energy storage by using carbon fibre reinforced composites (CFRPs) as electrodes and graphene oxide (GO) film as a dielectric separator. The composite is capable of carrying mechanical loads and storing electrical energy simultaneously. The composite can be used as the primary structural components in EVs and integrated with renewable energy technologies, in particular photovoltaics. In the near future, EVs can be powered by totally green power.
