Ann's research aimed to further the idea that effective workplace managers who create secure attachments with staff, would themselves possess higher job satisfaction levels and lesser desires to resign, as would their staff. Managers and staff of a national Australian retailer were surveyed both before and after the managers engaged in a five-month education programme about leadership and attachment. Unfortunately, most of the predicted findings were not shown, leading to the suggestion that these manager-staff relationships may not have represented attachment relationships, an underlying study requirement. However, the findings did result in recommendations relevant for future studies of this kind.
