This study focused on the global challenge, the underrepresentation of women in organisational leadership. This study examined leadership excellence as perceived by women managers in Sri Lankan organisations, integrating workplace barriers for women's leadership. In doing so, this study emphasised the influence of dharma-driven Sri Lankan cultural values on women's leadership. This study provides insights for organisations to implement gender equality policies and equal legal recourse for women in all sectors and guides international managers who wish to enter Sri Lanka. Focusing on creating better terms for women in organisational leadership, this study contributes to United Nations' fifth sustainable development goal.
