Lean Systems and its Potential Impact on Carbon Intensity

This research was conducted in response to climate change and the contribution of the manufacturing sector to global warming. It was conducted in collaboration with industry, finding that across multiple industries, carbon emissions can be reduced through the application of lean systems. The research findings are useful for policy makers, academics and manufacturing industry practitioners as it provides evidence that an established operational management framework can be applied by manufacturers to reduce their carbon footprint.
