To understand the Universe as a whole, it is important to understand how gravity behaves between galaxies. This behaviour is closely related to the rate at which galaxies and galaxy clusters grow. In this thesis, we developed a new way to measure this growth rate from the positions and motions of galaxies. We modelled the correlation between the density of galaxies and the movement of galaxies at many different points in the local universe. This relationship revealed new information about the behaviour of gravity, leading to a better measurement of the growth rate of galaxies and galaxy clusters.
