There is growing recognition of the importance of studying people's subjective experiences of living with mental illness. The current research explored the lived experiences of people with bipolar disorder five years after completing a psychological treatment program. The findings of this research have improved understanding of how people with BD manage their illness and promote lasting wellbeing, and provided suggestions for clinicians involved in routine care.
