This research focuses on the blade design for the application of a vertical axis wind turbine in low wind speed environment. The scarcity of research on blade optimization for this environment has led to the initiation of this research. The turbine blade optimisation are based on wind speed data gathered from Sarawak and performed with a commercial computation fluid dynamics software. It is intended that results could support the future development of wind projects in the country to add wind energy as part of the overall energy mix encouraging renewable energy development in the region.
