The recent proliferation of the Internet of Things (IoT) has led to the pervasion of networked IoT devices such as sensors, video cameras, mobile phones, and industrial machines. This has fuelled the growth of Time-Sensitive IoT applications that must collect data generated from IoT devices and analyse them while adhering to real-time requirements. However, satisfying such requirements is challenging due to the volatile and heterogeneous nature of the IoT environment where Time-Sensitive IoT applications are executed. This thesis proposed, implemented, evaluated and validated a set of novel adaptive and scalable techniques for managing such applications while fulfilling their real-time requirements.
