Auxetic structures are an innovative class of cellular structures that have negative Poisson’s ratios (NPRs) and can be engineered in creative ways. The work that has been conducted in this thesis involved developing novel 2D and 3D auxetic cellular structures and investigating their mechanical performances. The developed auxetic structures showed promising mechanical properties compared with those popular structures. The outcomes of this thesis could contribute towards using the developed structures in a wide range of potential applications. Therefore, this work paves the way to use the developed auxetic structures in the future as potential alternatives as cores for sandwich panels, medical stents, smart filters, sound absorbers, vibration-dampers, and human protection equipment.
