This is a two-part research. First, a study of the needs of parents of children with autism through interviews with parents and relevant educators. Second, the conception, design, and modelling of a behavioural intervention programme. Intervention was delivered to 12 children through six months of dance classes. Findings showed that when children attended more classes, they exhibited fewer challenging behaviours. Interviews with parents at the end of the programme showed that all parents found it beneficial and a novel method of delivering intervention in Sarawak. This suggests there is a place for enjoyable alternative behavioural interventions for autism in Sarawak.
