This thesis aims to systematically identify individual risk and need factors of ideology-based terrorist offenders, and to increase knowledge on ideology-based terrorism rehabilitation in Indonesia. This research comprises four related studies. Study 1 identified 18 individual risks factors of ideology-based terrorist offenders in Indonesia. Study 2 defined behavioural indicators of these risk factors and of positive behaviours or `protection' against reoffending, for each risk factor identified in Study 1. Study 3 identified competences and qualities required for rehabilitation staff working with the offenders. Lastly, Study 4 identified treatment management approaches for the offenders (e.g. deradicalisation). The findings may be used for the design and implementation of terrorism rehabilitation efforts.
