Motives and impacts of Chinese foreign direct investment in Australian healthcare, maternal and baby care industry, 2008 - 2019: empirical evidence from firm level data
This research examined the motives and impacts of Chinese outward foreign direct investment (COFDI) in Australian health care, maternal and baby care industry. A sample of 762 Chinese foreign merger and acquisitions (M&As) and greenfield investments in all industries among G20 countries were examined with an efficient model. Principal findings affirmed many traditional foreign direct investment (FDI) theories, while novel findings revealed what specific variables Chinese outward investment are attracted to from 2008 to 2019. This research also employed the event study method to explore the parent and target firms' stock market response.
