This work presents CFD based numerical model and simulation studies to investigate the impact of combining the two phases; pulp and froth into one model; and major issues that affect the overall performance of flotation cell performance emphasizing on gaining a better understanding of the impact of the presence of solid particle on bubble break-up and bubble coalescence rate in flotation column. Thesis also presented thorough CFD based numerical simulation studies for the investigation of the effects of the physico-chemical properties of the gas/liquid phases on bubble formation in a two-phase bubble column based on rigorous sensitivity analysis.
