Biomass is a potential alternative of fossil fuel which can provide better environment by reducing carbon emission. Biomass furnaces used for combustion process requires further development for achieving better efficiency and emission control. In this study, a numerical modelling method has been developed for investigating combustion phenomenon of biomass fuel in fixed and moving bed grate furnace. The model works on computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software where various important processes have been included by writing code. Different biomass fuel combustion has been simulated under various operating conditions. This model would be helpful for design and development of efficient biomass grate furnaces for heat and power production.
