This thesis expands vehicle electrification to a heavier class of vehicles, to address the emission reduction issues within the road freight industry. While the passenger car industry is shifting towards electric vehicles, the road freight industry is still predominantly relying on fossil fuels to power its vehicles. This thesis plays a critical role as a paradigm shift in what vehicles can be electrified, while also reducing total emissions. Additionally, the field of vehicle modelling was extended, presenting new computationally efficient techniques to model vehicles.
