Performance measures for sustainable road transport asset management practice

Dr Gunarathna developed novel methods for assessing sustainability performance of road transport asset management practice. This research focus is to integrate sustainability principles into road asset management system and develop suitable measures for assessing performance towards six dimensions of sustainability. These dimensions include environmental, economic, corporate, technical, financial and social sustainability. Both qualitative and quantitative measures have been used for developing sustainability assessment methods. The main outcome is an Excel-based tool for use by road agencies in assessing their performances with regards to the adoption of sustainable practices and processes.
