Asthma is a significant public health problem worldwide that affects a large number of people of different ages. It is the cause for major burden of illness encompassing premature death, health economics, and drop in quality of life of adults with asthma. Adherence to asthma medications is commonly poor and it is the primary cause for the worsening health outcomes for patients with asthma. Worldwide, qualitative investigations that examine the adherence of young adults (18-34 years) to their asthma medication are limited. This research explored the phenomenon of adherence from the perspective of young adults with asthma in Melbourne Australia.
