Lithium-ion battery (LIB) is an emerging field that demands new electrode materials for high performance applications such as EVs, HEVs, and energy storage for renewable energy. This thesis aims to understand the correlation of pore size, porosity, and morphology dependency of as-prepared anode materials such as nanoporous TiO2, nanoporous NiO, porous NiO/Ni foam, and nanogravel structured NiO/Ni foam on cyclic performances of LIBs. All the investigated electrode materials were found to have some advantages over the commercially used graphite anodes, and a thorough characterisation of the as-prepared anode materials was also performed to understand the processes that took place during electrochemical cycling.
