The thesis investigates the behaviour of the molecules responsible for absorbing light in the initial stages of photosynthesis. By using lasers light, lasting for a quadrillionth of a second, the quantum physics underlying the biological process are revealed. It is hoped that in the future the research will lead to a better understanding of how plants harvest light and will lead to more efficient photo-voltaic devices.
