This thesis presents state-of-the-art computer models of star clusters as they exist in our Milky Way. The models are analyzed with observational tools whenever possible, to be able to link and compare them to observations. A particular focus is on the effect of chemical composition of star clusters on their evolution, namely size and colour, as well as the impact of black holes in their centres.
