Australian video art came under the microscope in recent times because its history was in danger of being lost due to older technologies becoming obsolete as well as there being a lack of collection and documentation by cultural institutions. To challenge this problem the researcher developed curatorial strategies to help build a genealogy of Australian video art for exhibition purposes thus challenging the cultural amnesia that has plagued this history. This research was of national benefit to the cultural community because it provided access to a history of Australian video art through both an exhibition and an extensive printed catalogue.
