Millisecond pulsars are highly magnetised, rapidly rotating stellar remnants, produced in supernovae and later spun up to milisecond periods by companion stars. Studies of millisecond pulsars to date have revealed complex properties and left unanswered questions about the emission mechanism, population statistics, and evolution models. This thesis pursues these questions in three related studies using the Parkes radio telescope and the new MeerKAT array. I highlight an interesting source, PSR J2322-2650, and some theoretical implications. I further conduct a census of millisecond pulsars with MeerKAT and present a comprehensive dataset on which future studies may be based.
