This study examines the challenges faced by Australian Army Reserve soldiers as they reintegrate into civilian life after overseas operational duty. Using narrative identity theory, it investigates how their experiences and the stories they share shape their civilian identities. Interviews with 22 veterans revealed four key themes, emphasising the importance of storytelling in their transition. These narratives help veterans connect with others, validate their experiences, and integrate their military and civilian lives. This research highlights the significant role of shared stories in aiding veterans' reintegration, offering insights for improving support systems for soldiers returning to civilian life.
