The exposure of concrete members to fire can result in permanent loss of strength and stiffness. One way of reinstating the strength of fire-damaged members is to repair them using carbon fibre wrapping. This thesis presents an experimental and theoretical assessment of reinforced concrete columns damaged by heating and repaired using carbon fibre. Detailed experiments were undertaken to expose loaded reinforced concrete columns to heating prior to repairing them with carbon fibre. The strength was then determined experimentally. This experimental process was simulated using advance finite element modelling to give a better understanding of key aspects of behaviour.
