Mya Myintzu Hlaing completed her PhD thesis entitled “Study of Factors Influencing Bacterial Identification by Raman Spectroscopy” at Swinburne’s Industrial Research Institute under the supervision of Professor Sally McArthur and Associate Professor Paul Stoddart. Her thesis explored the application of Raman spectroscopy identification techniques to the bacterial life cycle analysis and biofilm formation. The results from her work has highlighted a great interest in the research community to improve the yield and accuracy of Raman-based diagnostics. Her work has provided a significant contribution for fast diagnosis, from clinical/environmental sample, and opened up new opportunities for a point-of-care, Raman-based device.
