Suicide of school-aged adolescents is a significant problem, with serious implications for students and staff alike. This thesis employed the expert consensus (Delphi) methodology to produce a set of guidelines, to assist secondary schools in English speaking countries in developing a plan to respond to a student suicide.
Experts in the field of suicide postvention frequently commented on the guidelines needing to be flexible for each school community. These are the first set of postvention guidelines produced worldwide for secondary schools that are based on expert opinion using the Delphi method, and can be used by schools, education departments, and non-government organisations.
