Table for Two - Design and Development of Parallel Interactive Narratives in Cinematic Virtual Reality
This exegesis investigates the design and development of parallel interactive narratives in cinematic virtual reality by adopting practice-based research in the form of screen production enquiry and reflective documentation. This research initially utilized an agile research method to examine the software and hardware technology for developing parallel interactive narratives in cinematic virtual reality through the artefact Slices. The inferences from Slices are further developed to produce and exhibit the artefact Table for Two. This research contributes to the development from storytelling towards storyliving in virtual reality experiences, defines best practices for designing and developing parallel interactive narratives in virtual reality and outlines the new production roles and responsibilities for such projects.
