Dr Krauskopf’s research investigated the impact of trauma transmission in Holocaust survivor families from the perspective of siblings and the role of sibling relationships. Her research demonstrated that the burden of parental Holocaust history does not fall equally on siblings in the same family with some siblings experiencing negative effects while others learned messages of resilience from their parents. The research also uniquely identified that supportive sibling relationships can ameliorate the effects of parental trauma. These novel findings extend the understanding of Holocaust survivor families and have important implications for future research on families impacted by trauma.
