The overall objective of this research was to assess the mental and physical health of Australian fathers of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, as well as identify contributors to health. The aims of this research were to: 1) establish the prevalence of a broad range of mental and physical health issues among fathers; 2) identify bio-ecological risk and protective factors for fathers' mental health; and 3) assess fathers' mental health support needs. The current research generated much needed evidence which can better inform prevention and early intervention efforts to promote the health of fathers of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
