This research explored how formal and informal networks of technology small and medium enterprises (SMEs) impact their innovation value chain. This study looked into the constraints faced by technology SMEs in Australia for their innovation and how networks contribute to their innovation process and firm outcomes. The findings from this qualitative study using 21 case studies suggested a positive influence of networks on innovation, and thereby on firm’s financial, growth and performance outcomes. The practice implications include the identification of the significance of networks in the innovation of resource constrained SMEs.
