This research focused on the evaluation of two commonly used and newly updated violence risk assessment tools, the HCR-20 V3 and VRAG-R. The aim of the study was to evaluate the predictive, concurrent and incremental validity of these tools, and inter-rater reliability. Performance of the tools was also compared to previous iterations. Results provided evidence for the use of these tools within the Australian forensic psychiatric population. The research supports clinicians in operating within evidence-based assessment and improving community safety through assessing tools for improvement in identification of individuals who pose a risk of violence.
