This thesis examines the unique role that the Mungana Scandal played in Queensland history, affecting the careers of three Premiers: Edward Theodore, William McCormack and Arthur Moore, who led the state between 1919 and 1932. The story has primarily been presented as a political one with the focus on Theodore, whereas the key person to follow was McCormack. Access to wider archival sources, technical information and review from today's perspective enable the entire story to be told in chronological sequence. It concludes with a re-assessment of seven myths which have evolved about the Chillagoe-Mungana story over a 40 year period.
