In the twenty-first century, the role and concerns of the Designer have evolved from content production to include leading a dialectic between stakeholders. This evolution requires the development of new elements, principles, processes, and practical methods to facilitate design leadership, promote ethical conduct and construct collective intentionality. This thesis focuses on the very best that design has to offer; wonderful design that transcends function and enriches life. The research describes fundamental elements of wonderful design, with a focus on emotion. A set of professional design principles, a principle-led approach to the creation of design, and an evaluation method are introduced.
