This thesis presents an investigation of the one-to-one delivery of the Tuning in to Kids (TIK) parenting program. TIK is an emotion-focused group program, that teaches parents over 8 sessions, how to respond to their children in ways that foster their emotional competence. As improving children's emotional competence often translates to improvements to behaviour problems, this research sought to assess whether a one-to-one version of this traditionally group-based program could also provide improvement to young children's behavioural difficulties. Our positive findings mean that this program can now reach a wider client group who may require or prefer one-to-one parenting support.
