Intimate partner abuse is a significant public, social and political problem linked to numerous mental health issues. However, it is largely unknown how Australian women involved in intimate partner abuse utilise public mental health services. This thesis sought to address this gap in the literature by (1) examining how mental health service use differs between women involved in intimate partner abuse and women in the general population, and (2) exploring how and why mental health service use differs among women involved in intimate partner abuse.
