This research investigated factors that influence relationship partner's willingness to engage in relationship problem discussion. Findings revealed that for male's, greater belief in their own capability for change was related to less willingness to engage in relationship problem discussion. Conversely, male's greater belief in their female partner's capability for change was related to greater willingness to engage in relationship problem discussion. Findings also revealed that increased vulnerability to overwhelming physiological arousal during conflict was related to lower willingness to engage in relationship problem discussion for both male and female partners.
