The social cost of sexual offending is significant, requiring specific attention and targeted resources to identify and enact strategies to ensure community protection. Over the last 50 years, research has been conducted into treatment, assessment and management of men who have been convicted of sexually harmful behaviour. While there has been advancement in approaches to risk assessment, which has significantly contributed to targeting intervention resources, these tools have been assumed equally reliable when used with older adults convicted of offending sexually. The results of this research were similar to other research findings. Further research to investigate specific factors that are related to older men who sexually offend and risk of recidivism.
