Younger onset dementia: the impact on relationships, intimacy and sexuality in midlife couples

Dementia has a significant impact on the couple relationship. This thesis aims to explore the impact of younger-onset dementia on relationships, intimacy and sexuality, and to develop an online information and support resource for people living with younger-onset dementia, partners and service providers. The results of the research highlight the significant impact dementia has on the couple relationship and the diverse information, service and support needs of people with younger-onset dementia, partners and couples. This research also underscores the importance of education and training for service providers regarding dementia and relationships, intimacy and sexuality.
