Older adults who live in residential aged care facilities may feel that their self-views are not recognised or supported by others, and this may influence their experience of loneliness and depression. Across four studies, this thesis demonstrated that engaging aged care residents to create short digital stories documenting their memories may assist in supporting their sense of self and mental health outcomes. Personalising aged care to account for the residents' sense of self may be a way to support the mental health of older adults as they navigate the challenges of living in residential aged care settings.
